Surfing the Big Waves... of supercomputing

Video presented at the Thermal and Fluid Sciences Affiliates and Sponsors Conference banquet, Stanford University, February 2013.

It highlights some of the activities regarding numerical simulations of fluid dynamics carried out during the beginning of the early-access time window to the Sequoia IBM Blue Gene Q supercomputer located in Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) by Julien Bodart, Joseph W. Nichols and Iván Bermejo-Moreno, from the Center of Turbulence Research (CTR), NASA/Stanford University, in collaboration with staff members at LLNL (Blaise Barney, Richard Hedges, Scott Frugal, David Fox, Rich Cook, Becky Springmeyer, Eric Brugger) and Johan Larsson, a professor at the University of Maryland and former research associate at CTR.

These activities are part of the Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program (PSAAP) at Stanford, directed by Professor Parviz Moin.
